Wireless Multimedia and Communication Laboratory
(WMCLab)
Wireless Multimedia and Communication Lab.
WMCLab was funded by Prof. Min-Kuan C. Chang in 2004 initially aiming at designing a wireless communication system suitable for multimedia transmission. WMCLab is located at R715 in EE building, NCHU. With years of evolution, WMCLabs now focuses on several interesting topics including:
1. Game-theoretical design:
We investigate the possibilities of applying the Game Theory to help design the ways of allocating
resource among users based on their interaction so that users can be better served in
communication systems where interaction matters. We focus on
1.) how to pairing/grouping users so that the resource can be better utilized,
2.) how users share the limited resource from the game-theoretical perspective,
3.) how the theoretical limitation of the game-theoretical approaches, and
4.) to propose a new game model to better fit the communications
2. Performance analysis of advanced communication systems
With rapid development of wireless communication systems, it is of great importance to understand
how these systems behave in the different kinds of communication environment. We focus on
search for or design new promising communication systems such as D2D, Cooperative
communications, Full-duplex communications, IoT and so on, and derive their theoretical
performance in light of channel impairment.

3. Multimedia systems
Multimedia is all around us and we just cannot live without it. In this context, we focus on
1.) how multimedia data can be transported over the air with sufficient resource,
2.) how to secure the transmitted multimedia data so that any unwanted tampering can be detected,
and
3.) how secrecy data can be dispatched with the help of multimedia.

4. Machine learning and Deep learning
The profound capability of Machine learning and Deep learning has enabled many interesting fields
of research. In WMCLab, we focus ourself on
1.) How they help distribute resource among users in an efficient and intelligent way.
2.) How they reshape the design philosophy of wireless communication systems.
3.) What the fundamental limits of them are.
5. Signal processing in point cloud
With the emerging advance in automatic driving, point cloud signal processing is gaining its
attention. In WMC Lab, with support of Qualcomm in 2019, we set up the research environment to
investigate the advanced technology for point cloud signal process . We mainly focus on
1.) Registration of point clouds via deep learning
2.) Real-time site construction based on point clouds
3.) Object recognition in point clouds

Are we recruiting? Yes, we are!! We are looking for students in Master or PhD level to join us!!
